Two “thieves” fall to TRS operatives

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Two suspected thieves were arrested yesterday morning in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City after they scampered upon seeing the Theft and Robbery Section operatives.

Analyn Salcido, 36, a native of Iligan City, and Roel Laganso, 34, of Villagonzalo II, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, were also found in possession of illegal drugs and several items believed to be stolen.

TRS chief Senior Inspector David Señor said that the team of SPO4 Jaime Toring was on a preventive patrol in the area when they chanced upon the two acting suspiciously.

The suspects reportedly ran towards a passenger jeepney upon seeing the police operatives prompting Toring’s team to chase them. The police found that Salcido was in possession of a wallet. She was asked to show her identification cards but the police found out that the wallet does not belong to her.

The wallet contained P3,000 and several identification cards. They have also recovered a mobile phone that is also not a property of neither of the two suspects.

The police found out that the phone was owned by a human resources supervisor of Ayer’s Lechon in Barangay Kasambagan.

The HR supervisor said that her wallet and her phone were stolen. The police said they also recovered a small pack of shabu from each of the suspects.

The suspects were brought to Cebu City Police Office headquarters where they are currently detained.

Señor said that the suspects were the same suspects were also responsible in another theft incident at the Bureau of Internal Revenue South District where a client lost over P1 million worth of cash and valuables.

Señor said that the incident was captured by the security camera. (FREEMAN)
