Bagong Phl cycling team binuo

MANILA, Philippines - May bagong pag-asa sa Philippine cycling dahil hindi lamang si Asian Games gold medalist Da-niel Caluag ang maaaring asahang makapagbibigay ng karangalan sa bansa sa international arena.

Iprinisinta ni PhilCycling president Abraham Tolentino kahapon sa Phi-lippine Sports Commission ang 32-man lineup para sa Philippine cycling team.

Sa pangunguna ni Caluag, nanalo ng BMX gold sa katatapos lamang na IncheonAsiad, ang listahan ay binubuo ng mga bata at subok nang siklista na dumaan sa mahigpit na selection process.

Maliban sa US-based na si Caluag kasama sina reigning Le Tour de Filipinas champion Mark Galedo at Southeast Asian Games medalist Alfie Catalan, karamihan sa mga riders na nasa lista-han ay under 23 years old.

“This is our new national team. We disbanded the old one. We want to invest in a young team,” sabi ni Tolentino na ipinasa ang line-up kay PSC chief Richie Garcia at commissioner Buddy Andrada.

Kasalukuyang nasa proseso rin si Tolentino ng pagpili sa bubuo ng coaching staff ng kopona na patuloy na sinusuportahan ng PSC pero nakakakuha rin ng tulong mula sa MVP Sports ni Manny V. Pangilinan, LBC ni Dino Araneta at Air 21 ni Bert Lina.

Nasa listahan din sina  Ronald Oranza, Rustom Lim, George Oconer, Ro-nald Lomotos, Mark Bordeos, Jun Navarra, Jerry Aquino, Boots Cayubit, John Camingao at iba pa.
