SHS-AdC grabs solo lead in CESAFI football

CEBU, Philippines - Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu secured the solo lead in the secondary division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football tournament after their second straight victory at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

SHS-AdC posted a 4-1 win against the University of San Carlos.

Kintaro Miyagi was unstoppable after scoring three of SHS-AdC’s goals as teammate Joshua Shields contributed one while Lloyd Soco logged USC’s only goal.

Defending champion, Don Bosco Technological Center opened their title-retention bid with an impressive 7-0 triumph over the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

 Vincent Lovitos and Angelo Ouano had two goals each while Thomas Glenn Ramos, Joseph Renan and Carlos Jubac had one goal apiece.

Meanwhile in volleyball event, University of San Jose-Recoletos and USC won its first assignments while the University of Cebu falters in the secondary girls’ division.

USJ-R girls’ needed a deciding set to win the game over SHS-AdC, 22-25, 25-16, 26-24, while USC also needed an extra set before winning against Southwestern University, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20.

UC, for its part, also stretched the game to third set, but unlike USC and USJR, they came up short against USPF, 25-21, 15-25, 25-6.

In the boys division, USPF defeated CIT-U, 25-15, 25-22 while USJ-R overpowered DBTC, 25-10 , 25-19 as USC won against SHS-AdC, 25-11,25-13.  (FREEMAN)
