MANILA, Philippines - Martin Honasan and Dexter Sy hold back-to-back solo shows — “Soil” and “All Things Pass,” respectively — which open on Aug. 23 at Boston Gallery, 72 Boston St., corner Lantana St., Cubao, QC.

Honasan showcases a series of meditations on human finitude, freedom and identity in “Soil,” while Sy attempts to synthesize the random thoughts, memories or symbols that seem to have piled up in his mind in “All Things Pass.”

Maki and Jodam Allingam at Galeria de las Islas

Galeria de las Islas presents “Two Men Down Under,” a two-man show by Aboriginal artist Maki and Jodam Allingam of Papua New Guinea, which is on view until Aug. 30 at Galeria de las Islas, 774 Gen. Luna St., Intramuros, Manila.

The show features Maki’s collection of paintings that depict conventional symbols that are widely used in the art of the Central and Western desert regions of Australia, and Allingam’s marble sculptures.
