Xavier rips CKS, keeps Chiang San Ching title

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School leaned on Kyles Lao, Harold Ng and Timothy Cu as it defeated long-time rival Chiang Kai Shek College, 78-67, to retain the Chiang San Ching Memorial Alumni Invitational Basketball crown at the SGS gym in Quezon City over the weekend.

While it was Cu who copped the tournament MVP trophy, Lao emerged as the Finals MVP for coming up with clutch plays that helped scuttle CKSC’s last-ditch fightback and complete its eight-game sweep of the tournament.

Xavier’s Mike Fermin was later named best coach of the under-22 tournament held in honor of Chiang San Ching, founder of the Philippine Kiao Ching Athletic Association, the oldest active Filipino-Chinese sports organization in the country.
