Over 100 families lose homes to Marikina fire - report
MANILA, Philippines - More than 100 families were rendered homeless after fire broke out in a residential area in Marikina City, before dawn Tuesday.
A radio report said that fire started around 2:10 a.m. inside the house of Nelson Gondeza on Euro Street, Urban Bliss, Barangay Barangka.
Arson investigators suspected that the blaze was caused by an unattended lit candle, the report added.
The report said that the flames quickly spread to 15 other houses in the area.
Firefighters managed to put out the blaze around 3:10 a.m.
Authorities are still determining the extent of the damage of the fire.
The affected families are now temporarily staying at the Barangka Elementary School, the report said.
