Gionee enters mid-level smartphone segment in Phl

MANILA, Philippines - China’s Gionee Communication Equipment Co. Ltd. has entered the mid-level segment of the Philippine smartphone market with the release of its stylish Pioneer P3 model this month.

The Pioneer P3 is Gionee’s latest smartphone in the less-than-P10,000 segment and is now available in all Gionee partner-retailers throughout the country, including MemoXpress, Hello Telecoms, Ghz, Aerophone, among others.

Gionee, despite being a new entrant in the Philippine smartphone market, has already created a lot of buzz in the country with its trendy yet affordable mobile devices.

“We are confident of making our mark in the Philippine market with our offerings for different price segments. Actually, if you’ll look at the features of our smartphones, they are comparable to the more expensive variants of other brands,” Gionee Philippines mobile head Katrin Salanga-Gregorio emphasized.

The Pioneer P3 model features a 4.3-inch WVGA 480x800 pixels resolution display, and sports a five-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash.

The smartphone is powered by a strong quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex A7 chipset, along with 512MB of RAM, and runs on the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The phone also supports dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) functionality.

A top review site cited that Pioneer P3 is a budget smartphone with a quad-core processor to flaunt. The phone is capable of handling average routine multitasking and with its decent plastic build and finish, it doesn’t feel cheap, unlike many other products in the segment. Also with the average screen size, the phone will fit in most pockets.

Considering that the phone is priced at P4,999 (the most affordable quad-core), the Pioneer P3 is quick and smooth, the same site added.
