Singer’s house razed in Butuan City fire

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The new house of the family of singer Marcelito Pomoy was among the 126 houses gutted in last Saturday’s fire in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, according to his father.

Pomoy, 27, was the grand winner of the second season of ABS-CBN’s singing talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

The Pomoys’ new house was undergoing finishing touches near their old wooden house in Riverside District, Bislig City when it was gutted in the fire caused by a ceiling fan that ignited.

Pomoy’s father Mario said he has not yet informed his son about the incident as he is on a tour in Canada.

The fire left a 92-year-old resident, Maxima Lim, dead.
