1st Mayor Garcia basketball tournament gets underway

CEBU, Philippines —  Six top-caliber commercial teams will begin their quest for hardcourt supremacy as the 1st Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia Invitational Basketball Tournament 2025 blasts off today (Saturday, January 25) with a triple-header on tap at the Cebu City Sports Institute Gym in Barangay Sawang Calero.

In the opening match set at 10:30 a.m., RKF Iloilo will clash with Stampede/Metro Cars.

Games will resume in the evening, with Team Khalifa of Tacloban City squaring off against the EGS-Solid North Partylist in an exciting showdown of title favorites at 6 p.m.

In the main match at 8 p.m., Fiesta Gas of San Carlos City will take on Lymar Ballers.

The week-long cage wars offering a total of P650,000 in cash prize will follow a single round robin format, with the Top 4 qualifiers advancing to the crossover semifinals.

The winners will then clash for the crown in a sudden-death duel.

The champion will take home P300,000, while the second to fourth placers will pocket P200,000, P100,000, and P50,000, respectively.
