CWBL, CSAS eye bigger Season 6
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Women’s Basketball League (CWBL) in partnership with CSAS looks forward to a bigger and bolder Season 6 with more teams coming from different provinces joining the tournament in January next year.
“We ended the 5th season with a lot of hype, bigger prizes, and far better younger players bringing their A-game. And there is nowhere to go but up,” said CWBL founder Arnel Salado.
“We have provided and will still continue to provide a stage for the local Cebuana basketball players to shine. As always, we are looking forward for the next one,” Ian Callet of CSAS chimed in.
The CWBL takes pride in producing a slew of notable players who are now seeing action in big leagues such as Aubrey Lapasaran (National University), Danica Jugalbot and Aleigha Salado (La Salle), and Niclen Manlimos (Adamson University).
Meanwhile, the RJR Squad edged Softbatch via a close 50-47 decision to emerge as champion of CWBL Season 5.
In the battle for third place, Move Liloan defeated the Templars.
Fergie Ypilan of RJR was honored as the Most Valuable Player, while her teammate Maxim Magbanua bagged the Sportsmanship Award.
They also made it to the Mythical 5 together with Angel Sidon of Templars, Maih Archival of Move Liloan, and Shaina Demape of Softbatch.
Trishma Arciaga of Got Shot was the All-Star MVP while RJR’s Fairlette Ceniza was the Best Coach. — (FREEMAN)
