TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines —  Three boxers from Cebu’s ARQ Stable led by reigning Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Silver flyweight champion April Jay “Astroboy” Abne cleaned up their fights on the undercard of “Kumong Bol-anon XIII” presented by PMI Bohol Promotions on Thursday, December  28, at the Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) gym here.

The 24-year-old Abne from Manticao, Misamis Oriental punched his way to a unanimous decision victory over eight rounds against Ariston “Double A” Aton of Lapu-Lapu City. The official scores were 77-75, 78-74, 78-74.

Abne, who edged past former world title challenger Robert “Inggo” Paradero by split verdict to retain his OPBF regional belt four months ago at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu, improved his record to 14-1 spiked with 6KOs.

Abne’s stablemates  in brothers Rodex “The War Machine” and Brix “The King” Piala went on to complete a rousing 3-0 sweep by Team ARQ.

Rodex Piala knocked down Marjhun Tabamo late in the final round before breezing through a lopsided unanimous win in their eight-round featherweight duel.

The three judges scored 80-71, 80-71, and 79-72, all in favor of Rodex who stretched his perfect record to 10-0 with one knockout.

On the other hand, Brix Piala beat Jhunrille Ramonal of Cagayan de Oro City by technical knockout in 1:04 of the second round.

The third man on the ring waved off the bout as Ramonal was unable to continue the fight with a deep cut on his forehead caused by Piala’s solid punch. Brix now holds an 8-1 slate with 3KOs. – EBV
