UV Alumni to hold fun run for a cause

CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas Alumni Association, Inc. (UVAAI) will be staging a running event for a cause a month from now.

Billed as the “UVAAI Fun Run 2023”, the fundraiser will take place on December 3, starting and ending at UV-Main’s quadrangle along Colon Street in Cebu City.

Proceeds of the kick-off activity for UV’s 105th founding anniversary next year will be used to support the deserving scholars of UVAAI in achieving their dreams. It’s a great motivator for the participants to make the run more meaningful.

“One thing I can assure is that you will feel good about running because proceeds of the run would benefit our scholars. With the excellent outcome, we can grant more scholarships,” said UVAAI treasurer and Gullas Law School associate dean Atty. Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio during the event’s formal launching at UV’s Doña Andrea Multi-Media Center yesterday.

Wagas-Estorgio was joined by UVAAI secretary-general and UV chief academic officer Dr. Anna Lou Cabuenas, UVAAI Fun Run 2023 vice chairman Dr. Cresencio “Chris” Mejarito, UVAAI Internal VP and UV Student Affairs Services director Dr. Ma. Crispy Velasco, race organizer John Velez, and technical director Prisciliano “Prising” Capangpangan.

The charitable undertaking features two distances, the 3K and 5K.

Registration fee is pegged at P500 for the 3K and P750 for the 5K inclusive of a singlet, race bib, and finisher’s certificate. It also entitles the runners to exciting raffle prizes and giveaways from sponsors.

Entry forms are available at the UV Alumni Relations Office located at the ground floor of the school’s Administration building.
