CEBU, Philippines —  Bayani Garcia and Eugene Andales bagged the top honors in the 13th Albino D. Gothong Memorial Cup dubbed as the Amo Cup held last June 29 and 30 at the par-72 Cebu Country Club in Cebu City.

The tournament is held in honor of the late sportsman and philanthropist Albino Gothong, who was known to organize big golfing events in the 1990s to the early 2000s.

Garcia fired an eagle-aided score of four-under-par 68 on nines of 34 and 34 to take home the lowest gross honors. He scored an eagle on the par-5 hole No. 7.

Andales claimed the lowest net plum with his nine-under-par 63 strokes off a gross score of two-under-par 70.

The Division A title went to Jerome Flores with a net score of 66 off a gross score of 69. First runner-up was junior golfer Nyito Tiongko with a net 67 while Calvin Gothong beat four others in the countback to claim the second runner-up trophy with a net 69.

The title for Division B went to Clifford Yap with a net score of 67. First runner-up was Yuan Chiongbian with a net 68 and Lester Cañizares was second runner-up with a net 69. Titing Gamallo topped class C with a net score of 66 strokes followed by Philip Huang with 69 and Mark Pepino with 70.

Arthur Lo ruled the seniors’ class with a net score of 67 edging peter Po Sr. in the countback. Po settled for the first runner-up honors while second runner-up was Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante with a net score of 68.

Riko Nagai topped the distaff side with a net score of 66 off a gross even-par 72. National team member Lois Kaye Go fired a tournament-best gross score of six-under-par 66 from the ladies tees, but since she plays with a handicap of +2 strokes, she finished with a net 68, which was good for second place. Third place went to Kim Hong with a net 71 strokes.

A total of 341 players took part in the event where the proceeds will be going to the various charitable projects of the Alpa Foundation, which was established by Albino Gothong and his wife Pacita.
