Doce Pares gears up for busy 2023
CEBU, Philippines — The world-renowned Doce Pares family brace for a busy year ahead even as they also looked back with deep sense of pride for all that they have achieved in 2022.
During their 90th founding anniversary celebration last Friday, December 30, Doce Pares President Supreme Grandmaster Arnulfo “Dong” Cuesta enumerated some of their accomplishments last year, most notable among them is their highly successful hosting of the 16th World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) Championships at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex in July.
“As we mark our 90th founding anniversary, we take pride for being among the very few martial art organizations that has not only lasted this long but has also contributed greatly to the promotion of Filipino Martial Arts worldwide,” the New Jersey-based SGM Cuesta said.
For the brand new year, SGM Cuesta said they have a lot coming up including a series of seminars this May in Hungary, Poland, Germany, and Netherlands to further strengthen the relationship of Doce Pares members in Europe and to discuss their curriculum as well.
Then on October 19-21, they will be having their Grandmasters seminar billed as “Tapok-Tapok Eskrimador 2023-Doce Pares Multi-Style System” at Bayfront Hotel.
Meanwhile, Cuesta announced during the special occasion that they will be giving college scholarships to at least four poor but deserving students who are practitioners of Doce Pares. — EBV
