Headers4-Takoyatea rules Consolacion sepak takraw tourney

CEBU, Philippines —  The Headers4 -Takoyatea team outclassed Rojimar’s Dressed Chicken of Cebu City in straight sets, 2-0, to clinch the championship of the Consolacion Headers Sepak Takraw Club, Inc. Invitational Tournament Tri City, Central Cebu and Northeastern Cebu League at the Consolacion Central School covered court last week.

Bannered by Sem Augustus Adovo, Marvin Ompad, Jayson Pepito, Kirk John Granido, and Cedric Andre Cena, the Headers4-Takoyatea of Kier Nathaniel Quintay pounded the Cebu City squad manned by Lyle Kent Monte, Ian Segun Magallon, Glen dyl Escultor, Joshua Moses Mirafuentes, and Ralph Ortouste in the opening frame, 21-10.

The Headers4-Takoyatea side found the visitors from Cebu City tough customers to handle in the second set but still managed to scrape through a close 22-20 decision to claim the coveted title without any glitch.

Earlier, Compostela-James Aviary of Rhenz Ceniza, Glean Mar Derecho, Francis Wagas, and Kent Diapana prevailed over Consolacion Headers1 in three sets, 21-17, 17-21, 21-18 to lift the third place trophy.

The two-day tilt was organized by the Consolacion Headers Sepak Takraw Club, Inc. headed by its president Wendell Semblante and club advisers Danny Andrino and Marlon Gicain. Arnold Niedo, Herbert Tabasa, and Joseph Rey Castro served as officiating officials.

It was made possible through the all-out support of LGU Consolacion under the leadership of mayor Dr. Joannes “Joyjoy” P. Alegado, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Carlos Donn Q. Flores, and Consolacion ES principal Joel Leyson. — EBV
