The press conference was also joined by Danao City Vice-Mayor Mix Durano and Spartan Race Philippines CEO Guenter Taus.
“We are very happy and excited because there’s a lot more to be discovered in Danao. We are going towards in Sports Tourism and we will be supporting this program. Hopefully this event would really recognize Danao and how we accommodate such events,” Durano said.
“It’s one of the beautiful places to build a sports tourism destination. I am excited to see doing more events in Danao and its surrounding areas,” Reyes added.
The Spartan Race in Danao will feature three events- the RD Hill Sprint, which is a 5K race with 20 obstacle course, the Spartan Super (13K with 25 obstacles), and the 4-hour Hurricane Heat.
Meanwhile, Spartan Race Philippines CEO Guenter Taus encouraged the Cebuanos to tryout and experience the Spartan Race here in the city as only 15 percent of the registered participants are from Cebu.
“We have about 15 percent from Cebu and about 20 percent foreigners and the rest are mainly from Luzon,” said Taus. “We need a higher Cebu participation because it’s too bad, we bring the race here but only 15 percent of Cebuanos are joining.”
