Ycong falls short in Ironman Davao
CEBU, Philippines — Jorry Ycong of Cebu City Rider Omega Triathlon Team failed to defend his Asian elite title after he was outpaced by August Benedicto in the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao yesterday at the Azuela Cove in Davao City.
Benedicto finished the race with the fastest time of four hours, 19 minutes and 57 seconds, while Ycong and Banjo Norte placed second and third place with a time of 4:33:01 and 4:33:02, respectively.
Cianyl Gonzalez, for her part, came out second in the women’s 25-29 class with a time of 5:38:44. Vic Montebon also settled for second place in the men’s 25-29 class after crossing the finish line in 4:46:13.
Another Cebuano, Kristianne Glendale Lim grabbed a bronze medal via the 30-34 division in 4:42:53.Tribu Lapu-Lapus team 2 also placed second in the men’s relay event with 4:28:14 clocking.
