AboitizLand, Team Perlas rule BVR On Tour
CEBU, Philippines — The AboitizLand and Team Perlas topped their respective divisions in the ‘Santa Fe Open 2019’, the second leg of Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) On Tour, yesterday in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.
The tandem of Jesse Lopez and Ranran Abadilla of AboitizLand succesfully scored their back-to-back leg championships as they also ruled the Puerto Galera leg of BVR last month.
They reaffirmed their dominance with a convincing 11-12, 21-16, 15-13 victory over the gutsy University of St. Lasalle (USLS) Bacolod of Herold Parcia and Deanne Depredo.
Pol Salvador and James Buytrago of National University managed to snatch the third place trophy with a 21-18, 21-19 victory over Team Visayas’ Jade Becaldo and John Kevin Juban.
In the distaff side, Team Perlas of Bea Tan and Dij Rodriguez, a former Southwestern University varsity player, claimed the title with a dominating 21-18, 21-16 win over sisters Joy and Mae Doromal of NU.
Like Lopez and Abadilla, Tan and Rodriguez also won the previous leg of the BVR On Tour in Puerto Galera.
Earlier, Mary Ann Pantino and Jozza Cabalsa of Philippine Airforce pummeled USLS’ Bianca Lizares and Margie Señas, 21-16, 21-13 to clinch the third spot.
The champions received P30,000, while the runners up took home P15,000 and P5,000, respectively.
