Bosconians snare 4 titles

16th Thirsty Football Cup

CEBU, Philippines — The spirited booters of Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) clinched four titles in the 16th Thirsty Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center over the weekend.

The Bosconians bagged their first champion’s trophy in the mixed open division last Friday after the Don Bosco Alumni edged Tacloban FC, 1-0, with Princess Caparida emerging as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The following day, Don Bosco Oreone, Don Bosco Marvelli and Don Bosco Canlubang shone the brightestin their respective divisions.

Don Bosco Oreone subdued the University of St. La Salle-Integrated School (USLS-IS), 2-0, to clinch the player 9 championship. Alexander Rayo went on to lift the MVP trophy.

`Don Bosco Marvelli, on the other hand, claimed the top honors in the players 11 category after defeating the Futbolitos FC, 1-0, behind the heroics of MVP Gab Tabar.

Not to be outdone, Don Bosco Canlubang bested the San Carlos City Tigers, 1-0, to lord it over the players 7 age group. Matthew Empleyo romped off with the MVP trophy.

The rest of the top performing teams were the University of San Carlos Alumni (40-above), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (boys 19), Sheba FC (girls 15), Tamasak FC (boys 15), San Juan Lady Booters (girls 17), Legends FC (girls 19), and Crocs FC (boys 13).

Named MVPs were Hayato Ayabe (40-above), Christian Joshua Gomez (boys 19), Jelena Loren Soon (girls 15), Francis Montevara (boys 15), Patricia Buensucesu (girls 17), Monique Gadiani (girls 19) and Matt Lim (boys 13). (FREEMAN)
