Spectrum Runners' Lee reigns supreme in Maasin City run
CEBU, Philippines — Prince Joey Lee of the Spectrum Runners Club added feather on his cap after winning the 18K men's open race of the Maasin City Foam Fest Go Run the other day in Maasin City the capital of Southern Leyte.
Lee finished crossed the finish line in one hour, one minute and 30 seconds to claim the top spot. He outpaced Kenyans Benjamine Kipkazi (1:02:48) and Joseph Moruri (1:04:41) who placed second and third place, respectively.
In the distaff side, Gel Monsanto won the women's tiara with a time of 1:16:45 followed by Maria Cela Laplap (1:30:09) at second, while Geraldine Sioros wound up third in 1:36:10.
Meanwhile, Ruel Algufera and Genida Arcuino topped their respective divisions in the 9K action.
Algufera clocked 31:15 to rule the men's division as Agustin Ychon (31:16) came second, while Keenan Caburnay (31:24) landed at third.
Arcuino, for her part, dominated the women's class with a time of 39:58. Rodith Ollave was far second with 45:56, clocking as Annie Balaga placed third in 54:43.
Arnel Florentino won the 5K men's title with a time of 16:59, while Reil Del Corro(17:35) and Jolan Scott (18:07) occupied the next two spots. Princess Borneo (22:30), Jona Corsilles (24:51) and Jamaica Germoso (27:09) were the top three finishers in the women's class. (FREEMAN)
