Glorietta Lariosa - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The University of San Jose-Recoletos Alumni Association will stage its sixth edition of the ‘Recoletos Run’ on September 16 starting and finishing at Plaza Independencia.

The race features the 3K, 6K and 12K categories.  There will be separate class for USJ-R students, alumni and employees.

USJ-R Alumni Association Board of Trustees member Engr. Norberto Flores said that the goal of the running event is to gather funds to support their scholars.

“Our goal is to support more scholars. We helped three scholars to graduate during our previous run and we are currently supporting five more scholars,” said Flores in a press conference yesterday at the Vienna Kaffehaus.

Flores added that the first year students enrolled this semester can automatically join the run as their payment for the registration is covered under their alumni fee which is included in their miscellaneous.

The organizers are expecting close to 3,000 participants to join the race.

Cash prizes and medals await the top finishers in each category. The champion in the 12K men’s and women’s division will receive P2,000, while the second and third place will get P1,500 and P1000.

The fastest runners in the 6K and 3K will also pocket P1,000 and P500, respectively.

All finishers will also get a specially designed medal.

Registration fee is pegged P300 for 3K, P400 for 6K and P500 for 12K inclusive of race shirt, singlet and post-race refreshments. Entry forms are available at the USJ-R Alumni office in USJ-R main campus. For more inquiries one may contact 253-7900 and 255-3060 or visit their facebook page at usjralumni.org.
