Danao City to host 2017 XTerra Philippines Championship
CEBU, Philippines - The Queen City of the South will once again play host to the world’s premier off-road triathlon event, the XTerra Philippines Championship, this time in Danao City on April 23 next year.
Cebu has initially hosted the event five years ago in Liloan, but the organizing Sunrise Events Inc. transferred it to Albay last year.
Albay was supposed to host next year’s edition but the province’s new governor Alfrancis Bichara refused to continue the live contract they have with SEI.
SEI General Manager Princess Galura informed that they already sealed the deal with fifth district representative Red Durano for the hosting of Danao.
Danao City administrator Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, for his part, said Danao has been always ready to host a big sporting event like the XTerra.
Aside from the off-road triathlon, Galura added that they are also organizing a duathlon competition for the XTerra Danao to give Cebuano athletes, who don’t want to do the swimming part, a chance to join the action.
Registration for the 2017 XTerra in Danao will begin on October 26. (FREEMAN)
