Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Marc Nicole Suson is the first Cebuano netter to book a final ticket in the 10th Cebuana Lhuillier Age-Group Tennis Tournament yesterday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

This after Suson escaped past seeded no.3 Jose Mari Casino, 7-5(5), 7-6(5) in their nerve-wracking boys 16 semifinal match.

He will face next either Jose Maria Pague or Duma Hakim Boloto.

Pague is all pumped up again after he stunned  the top-ranked Vince Tugade, 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals, while Boloto advanced after edging out Jace Unto, 6-3,6-3.

In the boys 18 though, Pague bowed to Cebu's Jan Godfrey Seno, 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.

Aside from Seno, the likes of Vince Tugade, Boloto and John Clyde Laque also barged into the semifinal round. Tugade outsmarted Cebu's Norman Joseph Enriquez, 6-2, 6-4, Boloto was too much for Kevin Pantillo, 6-4, 6-1, while Laquio nipped Suson,  6-2, 6-2.

Over at CitiGreen Tennis Resort, Kurt Bandolis and Heinz Carbonilla will face each other for the unisex 10-under title.

Bandolis broke the heart of Aaron Kevin Tabura in the deciding set, 1-4, 4-0, 4-0, while Carbonilla had an easy 4-0, 4-2 win against Mitch Largo.

In the boys 14 division, it's Venz Alforque versus Uzziel Pepito and Charlie Carbonilla opposite Richard Bautista in the semifinal round.

Alforque won against Euri Tagal, 6-2, 6-1, Pepito dumped Prince Najeeb Langitao, 6-2, 6-4, Cabranilla outsmarted Brent Cortes, 6-3, 7-5, while Bautista kicked out Ziualkhair Samporna, 6-1, 6-4. (FREEMAN)
