McDonald’s Jones Cup chessfest kicks off Saturday

CEBU, Philippines – Up and coming Cebuano pawnpushers will try to polish their competitive skills through the McDonald's Jones Cup Chess Championship set to kick off this Saturday at McDonald's-Jones branch.

The rapid competition following a 7-round Swiss system format is open to players aged 17 years old and below.

The first round of elimination is slated on January 23, while the second qualifying stage is on January 30. The top two finishers in the 14-17 and 13-under age groups will advance to the monthly finals on January 31.

Only 60 slots per batch are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who are interested to join have only until January 21 to register.

Entry fee is P150 inclusive of a chicklen McDo meal.
