Gonzales shines in 1st Tri Liloan
CEBU, Philippines – Cianyl Jamae Gonzales sealed his 2015 campaign with a sweet victory as Bohol’s Paul Jumamil came out the fastest in the men’s division of the inaugural Tri Liloan yesterday in Liloan, Cebu.
Gonzales, who returned to action after recovering from an accident a few months back, crossed the finish line in two hours, 53 minutes and 13 seconds for the women’s crown.
The Parklane Tri Team’s bet was way ahead of her closest pursuer in Denise Abcede, who finished in 3:16:34 as Lucille Ruiz placed third in 3:35:18.
Completing the top five were Genevive Balleras (3:46:39) and Michelle Garcia (4:22:42).
In the men’s side, Alaska Tri Aspire’s Jumamil reigned supreme with the time of 2:04:56. Jory Ycong wound up second in 2:09:58 followed by another Boholano Emmanuel Comendador with 2:16:21. Omega Pro’s Welmar Saavedra (2:19:58) and Ralph Arche landed at fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In the age group, Joseph Miller outsmarted Elmer Clarabal for the 35-39 class title with a time of 2:24:31. Jundeb Andre Esquivel dominated the 30-34 division with a time of 2:51:31 as Reylan Lapiz won the 24-under with a 2:38:18 clocking.
Jan Carlo Canete lorded it over the 25-29 class with a time of 2:45:58, while little-known Alejandro Suelo snared the 40-49 crown with a time of 2:54:34.Brian Lim bagged the 50-above plum in 3:12:35.
The combined efforts of swimmer Loren Dale Echavez, cyclist Elmer Navarro and runner Noel Tillor powered Three of Me to a championship trophy in the relay event with an aggregate time of 2:05:19.
Team Volvo Tri Team of Karly Greyson Le, Jaybop Pagnanawon and Anton Villahermosa placed second in 2:09:50 while the trio of Keith Ashley Ocampo, Ralph Vincent Ruiz and Anthony Bruce Samonte comprising the Team Tri Liloan settled for third in 2:14:41. (FREEMAN)
