Lancers arrange final duel versus Rams

Gabby G. Malagar - The Freeman

ORMOC CITY, Philippines – Joshua Segumpan sparkled with 20 points as the University of the Visayas Green Lancers demolished Holy Trinity College Wildcats of General Santos, 98-75, to book a finals ticket in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League 2015 National College Championship Vis-Min qualifying games at the Ormoc City Superdome here.

The Lancers will play against the University of Negros Occidental Recoletos Rams who ousted University of San Jose Recoletos Jaguars, 76-71.

Segumpan made six out of his seven three-point attempts to lead the Lancers offense. June Kent Manzo contributed 14 points as rookie Christian Bolano, a product of Linao National High School in Ormoc, debuted with five points.

On the other hand, the Rams from Bacolod capitalized on the Jaguars’ turnovers including a crucial error in passing in the final minute of the game.

The Jaguars made it a one-point deficit on a basket by Ricky Dyn Peromingan with 33.6 second left and after the Rams split their charities, 72-70, a return pass from Kevin Villafranca to Ralph Dinolan in a two-man play was intercepted in the final 18 seconds that doused the last hope for the Jaguars.
