CEBU, Philippines - Bemedalled Cebuana netter Elizabeth Abarquez produced two gold medals for Team Cebu City in lawn tennis event of the 2015 Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy National Championships yesterday at the CitiGreen Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, this city.

Abarquez, who hails from the city of Carcar,  bested La Carlota's Yana De Asis, 7-6, 6-4, to win the singles gold. She later teamed up with Zethley Mae Alferez in crushing La Carlota's bets, 8-5, to snare gilt in the doubles event.

Francis Hidalgo, teammate of Abarquez at the University of the Visayas, and University of Cebu's Mark Suson handed TCC's third gold in tennis via an 8-6 victory against Sibugay, Zamboanga.

In soft tennis, TCC's Pherl Coderos and Shedel Gica settled for bronze, with Aklan and Davao winning the golds in the boys and girls division, respectively.

On the other hand, TCC's stickfighters claim one gold, silver and bronze apiece at the end of arnis competition at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

Before the Queen City of the South attempts to set another Guinness world record through arnis, Nicole Angeli Tamayo bagged gold in the full contact's flyweight division.

Two other TCC bets in pinweight Fatima Edano got bronze and middleweight Kamya Verano silver.

Mandaue's Mary Jocyl Baritua won silver, while Cebu Province got a bronze through Dan Ailyn Remiticado.

TCC, manned by the University of San Carlos Baby Warriors, grabbed the gold in the 3-on-3 basketball at the expense of Team Mandaue.

In futsal, Don Bosco Technology Center clinched the gold at the expense of Tanauan, 2-1, while Mandaue, represented by Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, picked up the gold in the distaff side.

The Tagum City-native Caasi sisters Chriszelle Anne and Anne Krizzia representing Cebu Province walked away with the girls beach volley gold.

In the  boys side, ARMM bagged the gold over Gensan, 21-9, 21-15, while Tagum ended up with a bronze.

In taekwondo, Cebu Province prevented the entire Cebu delegation from a gold-medal shutout at the end of  kyorugi or sparring event at SM City-Cebu. Flyweight Wendil Jay Rama carted away Cebu's lone gold as lightweight Dineson Wirej Caneda and finweight Arwen Sorrosa settled for only silver.

TCC, which claimed two of the four golds up for grabs in poomsae or forms, failed to win a single gold in kruyogi and could only salvage one silver and two bronzes. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN)
