Cebu City Olympics DBTC, Springdale booters advance to semis

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Things got more interesting in secondary football as defending champion Don Bosco Technological Center and archrival Paref-Springdale advanced to the semifinal round in the 25th Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The Bosconians opened their title retention bid with a 4-0 victory over Abellana National School. They followed it up with an 8-0 annihilation of Talamban National High School.

Dennis Cabilin sparked DBTC’s offense in their rout of the hapless Talamban side. Justin Genson and Jon Rena contributed two goals each, while Rey Lazaga, Tom-Tom Ramos and Josephil Antiola each scored one.

Paref-Springdale, on the other hand, subdued the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 3-1. Rafael Ortiz drew first blood at the 16th, but USPF’s Ivan Ouano evened the score at the 52nd. Sabin Veloso and Enzo Ceniza, however, secured the win for Springdale with goals at the 64th and 77th, respectively.

In today's semis, DBTC will take on USPF, while Paref-Springdale faces the unpredictable ANS.

Meanwhile, games in CCO go full blast today featuring athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, chess, gymnastics, tennis, scrabble, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, volleyball, wushu and billiards.  (FREEMAN)
