Lexmark makes Elite Classic semis in E-League

CEBU, Philippines – The Lexmark Stallions booted out Evo division champion Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs in dominating fashion, 90-60, to reach the Elite Classic semifinals of the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Lexmark, thus, sets up a best-of-three duel against the Convergys Converters, with the winner facing off with the other semis showdown between the Accenture Sharks and the Teleperformance All-Stars for the championship.

Sylvester Millevo scattered 18 points, while Franco Angelo Cipriano added 17 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and two assists in an all-around show for the Stallions, who did not give the Boomerangs some breathing space after closing the first half with a huge 42-27 lead.

The Stallions kept on pounding the hapless Boomerangs in the remaining quarters to come up with a 30-point massacre.

Ralph Loren Martinez chipped in 14 markers, while Jan Oniel Sahilan scored 10 laced with four rebounds and two steals for the Stallions, who outscored the Boomerangs in the final half, 48-33.

Sam Jordan Hermosa was the brightest spot for Telstra with 30 points and six rebounds. Jaygard Vios had 13 points and three steals in a losing effort.—EBV (FREEMAN)
