USJ-R bets shine in Buglasan karatedo

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The promising karatekas from the University of San Jose-Recoletos shone brightly with 26 golds, three silvers and three bronzes in the Negros Oriental Buglasan Open Invitational Karatedo Championships over the weekend at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City.

What makes their triumph more impressive is that USJ-R, under shujin Manuel Alob, only had nine karatekas contributing to their overall supremacy.

Felix Calipusan led USJ-R's charge with five golds. Dj Mae Dente, who is trained by Larry Avila, got four golds and a silver.

Marianne Andales and Aubrey Codilla contributed four golds each, while Pete Rayos had two golds.

Jeb Miramontes handed two golds and a silver, Matthew Beronque chipped in two golds and a bronze, Jeremy Nopre baged three golds and a silver, while Nnyl Jake Rayos donated one silver and bronze. (FREEMAN)
