Sanchez, Saplad rule Warrior 50K ultra race
CEBU, Philippines - Preciosa Sanchez completed a grandslam feat, while Michael Saplad lorded it over the men's side in the Warrior 50-kilometer Ultramarathon at Be Resorts in Mactan Island.
Saplad, a security guard by profession as reported by the organizing FrontRunner Magazine, and Sanchez are the only two entries to finish in under five hours.The cut-off time is 10 hours.
Saplad finished the grueling race in four hours, 28 minutes and five seconds, while the 46-year-old Sanchez clocked in 4:57:07.
In the men's side, Saplad is trailed by Joie Nunez with the time of 5:15:37 as Romeo Aparace Jr. landed at third in 5:16:35.
The fourth to 10th placers were Alexander Ray Diaz (5:28:05), Ronan Miranda (5:35:35), Francis Brent Costanillas (5:59:44), Mark Modesto (6:12:07), Neil Caintic (6:28:24), Diosdado Cortejos Jr.(6:32:10) and Rhysie Longos (6:32:15).
In the distaff side, Mylene Go wound up second and 17th overall with a time of 7:06:59, while Jennifer Taton placed third with a 7:29:11 cloking. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN)
