Cebuano jins shine in Smart MVP taekwondo event

CEBU, Philippines – Rinna Babanto and McAvyngyr Alob, Cebuano members of the Philippine team, proved that they are ready at all times paving the way for them to a golden finish in the Smart MVP Best-of-the-Best taekwondo event last Sunday at Robinson's Place in Ermita, Manila.

Babanto and Alob powered De La Salle University (DLSU) to the championship in the freestyle team event.

Babanto said the poomsae event in the MVP Cup was a last minute addition, yet they were able to pull it off against the University of the East, while the University of the Philippines landed at third.

Their triumph boosted La Salle's campaign for supremacy in this year's UAAP taekwondo competition.

Both Babanto and Alob had a memorable debut in the UAAP last year and hope to duplicate it when they face the other top varsity jins come October 21. (FREEMAN)
