Abad, Chicano rule National Duathlon race

CEBU, Philippines – Long-time national team member Mirasol Abad and John Leerams Chicano topped their respective divisions in the premiere elite of the 2015 Cebu National Duathlon Championships at the South Road Properties, yesterday

Abad won the standard class as she finished the battle in two hours, 24 minutes and 35 seconds.  Cebuana runner Miscelle Gilbuena trailed Abad in 2:24:35, while Elona Louise Villacin placed third with 2:43:43 clocking.

After a lackluster performance during the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines, Chicano redeemed himself by winning the standard distance in the men’s elite in 1:56:30. Robeno Javier wound up in second place in 1:57:25 as Joey Delos Reyes settled for third in 1:59:45.

In the age groups, Loren Codera snared the men’s 30-34 class in 2:28:57, Julius Delos Reyes won the 25-29 class in 2:18:46, Joland Olmilla bagged the 20-24 title with 2:06:47 clocking, Carlos Macasarte in the 50-above class with 3:00:47, Michael Cortes grabbed the 45-49 class with 2:35:14 as Ian Solana won the 35-39 division with a time of 2:14:36.

In the distaff side, June Marq Ocana (2:55:02) won the 40-44 class, while Robinette Uy ruled her class over former Cebu triathlon queen Rochelle Tan and Cara Mae Rina.

Chobie Duenas lorded it over at the main junior elite division, while Jeslie Sabado topped the mini-sprint’s girls elite

Edgardo Pedregosa and Wow Capangpangan dominated their respective class in the 20-and above categories.   Lauren Plaza secured the girls 13-15 mini-sprint title as Brent Valejo topped the boys class. (FREEMAN)
