USC, USJ-R set up final duel in CESAFI boys volleyball

CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Carlos and the University of San Jose-Recoletos terminated separate foes to set up a championship showdown in the secondary boys volleyball event of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. season yesterday at the USJ-R Basak Campus gym.

The USC spikers moved one step closer from retaining their title after crushing the Don Bosco Technology Center in straight sets, 25-12, 25-15, while USJ-R stunned the University of Southern Philippines Foundation in a three-set thriller, 21-25,25-17, 25-23 to book the remaining final ticket.

USC nd USJ-R will clash for the coveted crown on October 10 yet with no confirmed venue.

In secondary football played at the Cebu City Sports Center, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu bested the defending champion Don Bosco booters, 1-0.

Joshua Shields knocked in the winning goal for SHS-Ateneo at the 18th.

SHS-AdC, thus, took the solo lead with a 2-0 slate, while DBTC slipped to second with a 2-1 win-loss card in a tie with the University of San Carlos-BED, which got its second win the expense of USJ-R, 5-0.

    In taekwondo, USC reigned supreme in the seniors division with 15 golds, including six in the team event, spiced up with four silvers and a bronze. University of Cebu placed second with a 5-14-3 gold-silver-bronze medal haul followed by USJ-R with a 3-3-2 tally.— (FREEMAN)
