Cebu plays host to national duathlon event

CEBU, Philippines - The 2015 National Duathlon Championships will have two race dates, with the individual battle taking place on September 12 and inter-club competition set the following day at the South Road Properties.

The individual competition includes the SuperTriKids, elite, junior elite, the age-groupers in the standard distance and the open mini sprint event.

For those who have not yet registered, one may enlist at Rudy Project (SM City-Cebu and Ayala), Lantaw SRP, Bikecology at the Banilad Town Center, Dan's Bike Shop and RUNNR in Ayala. Luzon-based athletes and the rest can go to the SPEEDO Concept Stores in Ayala Alabang Town Center, SM Mega Mall, Podium, Glorietta 4 Makati, and Bonifacio High Street.

Entry fee is pegged at P2,500 for the standard), P2,000 for sprint and mini sprint, and P1,000 for the STK, which are applicable until September 6 only. The  Inter-Club registration will close on September 1.

The event is organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) and Danao City Sports Commission in cooperation with the city government of Cebu headed by Mayor Michael Rama.

“We have been organizing triathlon events in various parts of Cebu for a long time. We are looking forward to a successful staging of the National Duathlon Championships to further cement the Queen City of the South as another center for multi-sport events in the country,” said TRAP official and Danao City Administrator Oscar "Boying" Rodriquez, Jr. (FREEMAN)
