Supportsave, Telstra now 3-0 in CSCC E-League

CEBU, Philippines – The Supportsave Dragons and Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs mauled separate foes to go 3-0 under the Evo League of the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Niño Belande had a solid double-double show of 21 points and 17 rebounds to power the Dragons to a 64-48 demolition of The Results Spartans, while Sam Jordan Hermosa unloaded 32 points spiked with 12 rebounds, six steals, five assists and three blocks in a dazzling performance that towed the Boomerangs to a 92-69 rout of the 24/7 Cagers.

Belande, who also had  four assists and three steals, drew huge support from Dennis Morales and Mark Vergara with 23 points combined for the Dragons, who ruthlessly pounded the Spartants quarter after quarter en route to a 16-point romp.

Jade Sala Seno finished with 15 points and Charles Ybañez added 13 for the Spartans, who crashed to their second straight defeat after a rousing 2-0 start.

Hermosa, on the other hand, was heavily backed up by Jaygard Vios and Ivan Figuera with 31 points combined for Telstra, which used a devastating 50-32 bomb in the middle quarters to blow away 24/7. Ralph Belarmino cashed in 28 points on top of eight rebounds, but went home on a pensive mood as 24/7 tasted its first loss of the season.

In the other Evo league duel, the Teletech Titans snapped out of their three-game losing skid after drubbing the Author Solutions, Inc. Hardbacks, 61-50. Jonas Concepcion almost singlehandedly carry Teletech to its first win of the season after churning out 28 points laced with six assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Donald Stephen de Leon was the lone double-digit scorer with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Hardbacks, who fell to 0-2.

In the lone Elite Classic match, the Telepeformance All-Stars relied on a balanced scoring attack to gun down the Convergys Blue Devils, 55-47. Teleperformance now holds a 2-1 win-loss record, while the Blue Devils slumped to their worst 0-2 start ever. — EBV (FREEMAN)
