Niños dominate CIS swimfest
CEBU, Philippines – Team Cebu City Niños reigned supreme in the 2nd Cebu International School Swim Meet, even as six of their comrades were also named as the best in their respective classes in the one-day tilt over the weekend at CIS.
TCC collected a total of 1,050 points to outlast seven other participating clubs. The Talisay Aqua Blazers Swim team came out second overall with 673 points followed by Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu with 526 points.
Host CIS placed fourth with 247 points, while the University of San Carlos occupied the fifth spot with 105 points. The University of Bohol Rockets took the sixth spot with 103 points, while the Silliman University Red Stallions, surprisingly, were the tail-enders with only 84 points.
Spicing up TCC's masterful conquest are five of its bets who got the Most Outstanding Swimmer awards in Mike Gabrielle de la Serna (boys 8-under), Shane Allyne Pareja (girls 15-16), siblings Jobert and Karen Mae Indaya (boys 11-12 and girls 13-14), and Clarence Israel Oreisga (boys 17-18).
Dennis Jay Rosales was unopposed in the boys 19-21 category.
Michael Ichiro Kong missed the MOA plum to Johann Matthew Tubesa by a mere four points. Surigao's Monique Ramas Lim was the top performer in the girls 8-under and Micael Jorolan in the boys 22 division.
The other outstanding achievers were Talisay's Marielle Estreba (9-10), Elaana Scheuer (girls 11-12), Camille Shane Pacabis (girls 17-18), UB's Andrei Louis Valencia (boys 9-10), ADC's Val Andre Chui (boys 13-14), and CIS playing coach Hannah Lou Galo (girls 22). (FREEMAN)
