Simat, Sorongon top Don Bosco Run
CEBU, Philippines – Kenyan Isaac Simat and Ruffa Sorongon posted back-to-back victories after ruling the Don Bosco Run yesterday morning at the Don Bosco Seminary in Brgy. Lawaan, Talisay City.
This came a day after the two dominated the Return of the Titans Family Run at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.
Simat dominated the men’s open 16K action with the best time of 55 minutes and 53 seconds. He was way ahead of second placer Bonifacion Monjas, who clocked in 56:06, as Albert Omboga wound up in 59:10. Two Kenyans in Abraham Missos (59:10) and Douglas Mwiti (59:13) settled for the fourth and fifth place.
In the women's side, Sorongon crossed the finish line first in one hour, 16 minutes and six seconds. She beat Kiesha Mae Delechos who timed 1:22:29, while Rameris Tapere took the third place honors in 1:22:34. The fourth and fifth place finishers are Desiree del Rosario (1:42:03) and Aida Suige (1:44:44).
On the other hand, sisters Lovely Fe and Cherry Andrin had a 1-2 finish in the 6K class with Lovely Fe finishing in 31:12, while the latter registered a time of 32:05.
Robert Daang lorded it over at the 6K men’s with a time of 23:52, followed by Elmer Bartolo (25:21) and Michael Largo (25:56) as the second and third place finishers. (FREEMAN)
