Springdale annihilates CIC-Mandaue in Aboitiz football tourney

CEBU, Philippines - Paref-Springdale served early notice on its serious title campaign after it pulled off what is by far the most lopsided victory in the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The Titans of Springdale under the guidance of coach Mario Ceniza spared no mercy in their 26-0 massacre of the hapless Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue in the boys 18 division.

Sabin Veloso and Mark Nacional led Paref-Springdale's charge with five goals each.

In the under-13 class, the Cebu Dynamo FC silenced Cebu International School, 6-0, while Tabor Hills scored a 3-1 win over Benthel Asia.

The University of San Carlos-BED and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu won by default over BMALV and San Roque FC, respectively.

In the under 15 age group played at the San Roque Parish field, Paref-Springdale fought to a 1-1 draw with Tabor Hills.

SHS-AdC prevailed over USC-BED, 2-0, while the Abellana National School-Pomeroy whipped the Mactan Spartans, 7-1.The Guardian Strikers also barged into the win column at the expense of SAIS FC, 3-0.

Over at the Don Bosco Technology Center, Don Bosco's booters fought against each other, with its team A beating team E, 2-0 and its team F cruising past team B, 4-0, in the under 9 category.

In the under 7,  DBTC-A claimed three straight wins against team C, 6-2, team D, 8-0, and team B, 3-0.

DBTC-C had back-to-back wins against DBTC-O, 1-0 , and DBTC-B, 3-0, while DBTC-B came through a 4-3 thriller over team D. (FREEMAN)
