Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano netter Jerico Bohol went off to a good start in the 6th Chairman’s Cup tennis tournament in Isa Town, Bahrain.

Bohol who is under Group A opened his bid with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Bahraini Fayez of Bahrain to arrange a showdown against countrymen Jojo Fernandez today.

The Cagayan de Oro-native Fernandez won his first assignment with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Norman Abastillas.

Bohol dominated the 2012 and 2013 edition, but missed a grand slam as he failed to participate last year. Bohol though had another prestigious event in Bahrain after claiming his first singles title in the Indian Club Centenary Tennis tournament.

This time around, Bohol is playing in the super singles, an event for coaches and national level players.

Meanwhile, another Cebuano player Jess Espinosa also outsmarted Dwight Alivio, 6-4, 7-5.

The other action saw Manila’s Gilbert Sino-Cruz defeating Bicol’s Ronald Anacin. (FREEMAN)
