Tabal dominates Mandaue Foam Run
CEBU, Philippines – The country’s road running queen Mary Joy Tabal added feather on her cap after a successful return on the local running scene by coming out as overall champion in the 21K women’s open race of the first Mandaue Foam Run for the Planet at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu yesterday morning.
Tabal topped the 21K race in one hour, 24 minutes and 10.01 seconds. Triathlete Lorhiz Echavez-Lopez finished second in 1:45:13, while Madelyn Carter grabbed the third spot with a 1:46:28 clocking.
In the men’s 21K, Kenyan Isaac Simat came out the fastest in 1:13:28, while trail runner Bonifacio Monjas placed second in 1:16:13 followed by Paul James Zafico with the time of 1:17:30.
In the 12K action, another Kenyan Abraham Missos and young Cebuana long distance runner Lovely Fe Andrin dominated their respective classes.
Missos won with a time of 41:16 followed by Elmert Bartolo in 42:08 as Missos’ countrymen James Mebei settled for third in 43:31 clocking.
Lovely Fe, for his part, claimed the top spot in 54:54, followed by Keisha Mae Delechos with 55:00 as Michelle Beboso placed third in 55:50.
Another Andrin, Cherry, ruled the 6K women’s class with 26:05 clocking to beat Lynlie Cardenas (28:10) and Irish Delechos (29:11) who placed second and third.
Aldrin Agang (20:26), Prince Joy Lee (20:44) and Robert Daang (21:01) were the top three finishers in the men’s action.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Andrin only managed to get the second place in the 3K category against Locrecio Paloma as Junrey Andales landed third. Young Mary Joy Loberanis snatched the 3K women’s title against Mary Jot Castor and Carla Cosep. (FREEMAN)
