Veloso, Amarado bag E-League MVP awards

CEBU, Philippines – Ryan Veloso of the Teleperformance Vipers and Clifford Amarado of the Convergys 2 Blue Devils topped the list of individual awardees in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu.

Veloso romped off with the MVP trophy in Division 1, while Amarado snatched the coveted plum in Division 2.  They automatically made it to the elite Mythical Five alongside Joey de Guzman of the ePerformax Reds, Joselito Aranda of Convergys, and Franco Angelo Cipriano of the Lexmark Stallions.

Nino Belande of the Supportsave Dragons stole part of the limelight after coming out as the Rookie of the Year. He spiced that up with two other majors accolades as the league's scoring champion with an average of 27.56 points per game and rebounding leader with a norm of 10.56rpg.

Dennis Poquita of the SSI Warriors topped the steals department with 3.56spg, Robert Gilo of ePerformax stood tall in blocks with 2.0bpg, while Dave Villas of Supportsave lorded it over in assists with 6.89apg.

Meanwhile, Teleperformance and Convergys 2 will settle their unifnished business once and for all when they clash in the deciding match of their best-of-three finals series for the 2014 E-League crown at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Banking on the last-second heroics of Sherwin Resilla, Convergys 2 drew first blood, 62-60, but Teleperformance forged a rubbermatch in dominating fashion, 65-45. — EBV (FREEMAN)
