Donayre guns for first ONE FC win

CEBU, Philippines - Dubai-based Cebuano mixed martial artist Vaugh 'The Spawn' Donayre is primed to grab his first ONE Fighting Championship win as he takes on Malaysian warrior Peter Davis tonight at the Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

After falling in his ONE FC debut last August 29 against Mohammed Walid in Dubai, Donayre is hungry for redemption as he wants to give pride to Cebu by winning in his opponents lair.

Donayre, who sports a 7-2 win-loss record, started to hone up his MMA skills at Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu and DEFTAC Cebu, but he left for Dubai to be an MMA trainer.

“I know his (Davis) the face of MMA in Malaysia and I am up to the challenge,” said Donayre.  “I am going to knock on his door and I am going for the knockout.”

Donayre believes that his win against Davis (8-3) would erase the stigma of defeat of his first fight and make him one of the Filipino title contenders in the ONE FC lightweight division.— Lemuel P. Maglinte (FREEMAN)
