Barandog, Yuvallos top PRO-7 RAC golfest

CEBU, Philippines – Pio Barandog and Nelson Yuvallos were the big winners in the 1st Police Regional Office-7 Regional Advisory Council Golf Tournament played Saturday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.

The event, which was organized by the RAC headed by Prudencio ‘Prudgie’ Gesta, aimed to help raise funds for the programs of the group, which is tasked to help the Philippine National Police maps out its tasks for the region.

Barandog fired a gross score of four-under-par 68 strokes on nines of 31 and 37 to claim the lowest gross honors.

Yuvallos had nines of 38 and 39 for a gross score of 77 and established a System-36 handicap of 8 to finish with the tournament’s best net score of three-under-par 69.

Police Director Mel Mabelin topped class A with a net score of 71 off a gross 83.  He won the title by virtue of a lower established handicap over two others

Runner-up honors for the premier handicap class went to Ricky Camacho also with a net score of 71 while second runner-up was Jimmy Tee also with a net score of 71.  Camacho had a gross 85 while Tee made 91.

The class B title went to Senior Superintendent Tony Salamat with a net score of 71 followed by Senior Superintendent Edwin Paras with 73.  Second runner-up was Senior Superintendent Ted Carranza with a net score of 74 edging Gesta in the countback.

Alvin Lim, one of the members of the RAC, ruled class C with a net score of 72 strokes.  First runner-up was Cho Kwong Ho with 75 while second runner-up with 76 was Raul Paras.

Tess Magazzeni topped the distaff side with a net score of 73.  Runner-up honors went to Grace Bañas with a net score of 77.

Chief Superintendent Prudencio Tom Bañas, regional director of PRO-7, thanks the RAC for taking the effort to hold the tournament in support to the policemen in the region.

Special awards went to Andy Florida for the longest drive on hole No. 4 (220 yards), Tony Salamat for nearest to the pin on No. 6 (2’6”), Jun Tabujara for the most accurate drive on No. 11 (14 inches) and Hitoshi Naoi for the longest putt on No. 18 (21 feet).
