Leylam FC spearheads another charity football

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Leylam FC is initiating another football event for a cause, this time dubbed as "Goal for Jacob" on October 19 at the Don Bosco Technology Center in Barangay Punta Princesa, this city.

The inter-company tournament allows each team to field in a minimum of seven and a maximum of 12 players in both men and women's division.

The organizers are looking at a maximum of 20 entries in the men’s division and eight in the distaff side.

So far, a total of 12 teams have already registered for the men’s action and four in the women's bracket.

All players involved should be an employee, from crew to CEO, of the participating company.

The charity event is specifically dedicated to a one-year-old boy named Jacob who is set to undergo a surgical operation on his “club foot”, a congenital deformity affecting the foot. The baby is a son of one of Leylam’s production staff.

Last year, Leylam FC also spearheaded two fund-raisers, the 'Goal for Bohol' mainly done in Singapore and the 'Goal for Yolanda' here in Cebu City. The thing of beauty is that Leylam doubled the money raised out of the event, thanks to the generosity of its owners.

For those who want to join, if not sponsor the event and the baby itself, one may contact Leylam FC’s Rene Sanchez at 0925-5018209 or at 412-0882 located 108.

Entry fee per is pegged at P2,500 per team. (FREEMAN)
