Valisado scores brutal KO win in 'Bakbakan sa Sugbu'
CEBU, Philippines – Rodel ‘Pitbull’ Valisado of Unified MMA scored the biggest win in the September edition of ‘Bakbakan sa Sugbu‘ courtesy of a first round knockout of Mike ‘Tiger Wolf’ Padillo of BEEZ MMA the other day at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
The amateur mixed martial arts tournament is part of Cebu City Sports Commission’s grassroots development program for combat sports that also includes boxing, karatedo and arnis.
Valisado, a welterweight, started with a strong push kick to Padillo, who blocked the kick with his forearm. But soon as the latter was about to land a punch, Valisado immediately countered with a picture perfect right overhand that landed at Padillo’s jaw.
The impact of Valisado's punch was so brutal that Padillo landed face first on the canvass and went unconscious for a few seconds, forcing referee Jonas Azarcon to quickly stop the bout with just 16 seconds gone by in the action. It took Padillo several minutes to regain his senses.
On the other hand, Josh ‘Buffalo’ Ybañez, Denn Lumanta and Ken ‘Simaron’ Caniga of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Simaron MMA also made an impression in the event supported by the Department of Education and the Philippine Sports Commission.
Ybañez disposed off Nino ‘Little Giant’ Francisco of Fitma MMA via armbar in the first round, Lumanta scored a unanimous decision over Rolly ‘Pretty Boy’ Dalen of Fitma MMA, while Caniga stopped Benedict ‘Little Warrior’ Torbiso of Durex Dragon KBC in the first round.
In the other results, Roel ‘Tigbas’ Arcipe of Warrior MMA bowed to Jessie ‘Jerusalem’ Cabalquinto of Calma Stable via second round TKO, Dodong ‘Tiger’ Jagape rattled John Edu ‘Excalibur’ Torbiso in the first round, while Raymund ‘ Chiefmonster’ Libradilla crushed Danilo’ Crusader’ Teves of Calma in the second round.
