Daang upstages Kenyan in ERUF Run
CEBU, Philippines - Robert Daang returned to competitive running in style, beating Kenyan James Mebei in the men’s 10-kilometer race of the Mandaue Run For ERUF at Parkmall yesterday.
Daang touched down the finish line in 34 minutes and 44 seconds, way ahead of Mebei who clocked in 35:38. Another Cebuano runner in Michael Largo took the third spot.
In the distaff side, Cherry Andrin prevented her family from going home without a champion’s trophy for the first time as she topped the women’s 10K action in 40 minutes and 36 seconds. Ruffa Sorongon came in 26 seconds behind Andrin as Keisha Mae Delechos ended up third with a 46:47 clocking.
Two other Kenyans in Abraham Missos and Iriene Kipchumba ruled the 5K open category. Missos finished the battle in 16:06 followed by John Darryl Manus (16:53) and Riez Enriquez (17:12).
Kipchumba, for her part, topped the distaff side with ease, leaving Lovely Adrin at second place as Carla Cosep wound up third.
The two other Adrins, Ronnie and Jhean, missed the top spot in their respective divisions under the 3K. Ronnie placed second to Azrel Pagay in the men's division, while Jhean was runner-up to Lynlie Cardenas in the women's side. (FREEMAN)
