Telstra shocks Convergys 1 in CSCC E-League cagefest
CEBU, Philippines- The Telstra Boomerangs dropped the biggest bombshell in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament after it shocked the Convergys 1 Wolves, 62-57, last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Jake Antig Cainday scattered 21 points on top of seven rebounds and two assists for Tesltra, which used an explosive opening assault to stun Convergys 1. After taking an early 21-12 lead, Telstra was in full command the rest of the way.
Sam Jordan Hermosa pumped in 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals for Tesltra, which tallied its only third win in eight games.
Admir Batiancila had 21 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Joseph Española added 13 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists but their all-around show went to waste as Convergys 1 suffered its second loss in eight starts.
On the other hand, the SSI Warriors survived the ASI Hardbacks, 61-57, to better their win-loss record to 7-3 while dropping ASI to 5-4.
Robert Espinoza paced SSI with 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists followed by Lawrence Daven Agas with 16 points, five rebounds and as many assists. Donald Stephen de Leon led ASI with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three assists while Ellison Rivera added 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in a losing cause.
In the other games, the Teletech Titans slammed the listless GGS Griffins, 81-41, while the Talleco Bandits won by default over the 24/7 Cagers. —/EBV) (FREEMAN)
