CEFL: The beginning; First amateur MMA card in Cebu unfolds tonight

CEBU, Philippines -  Cebuano fight fans brace themselves for an exciting mixed martial arts action as the first edition of Cebu Extreme Fight League dubbed as ‘The Beginning’ unwraps tonight at the Cebu Coliseum.

Lando ‘Alamid’ Nacua of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu takes centerstage in the main event as he lock horns with Paul ‘The French’ Carrere of Unified MMA in a three-round amateur MMA bout under the bantamweight division.

“There is no turning back now, the ring will be my stage,” said the 24-year-old Nacua.

“Expect fireworks in the ring when these two fighters collide tomorrow (tonight)," said Yaw-Yan ArDigma CEO and Founder Master Benigno ‘Ekin’ R. Caniga, Jr. during the official weigh-in yesterday.

Nacua and Carrere both tipped the scales at 135 lbs.

In the equally-exciting supporting main event, grappler Roy ‘Agilon’ Bajar, also from Yaw-Yan ArDigma, will try to outmuscle knockout artist Nino Rio ‘Tatus’ Saoy of Tatus Muay Thai and MMA.

"This is an interesting match-up pitting a grappler against a striker. Let's see who will prevail in this fight,” said Master Ekin.

In a pair of special attraction, Angel 'Lawin' Sanchez of Yaw-Yan ArDigma, a registered urse by profession, will take on Bridgette 'Rising Warrior' Torbiso of Durex Kickboxing Club in the women's category, while 10-year-old Ken 'Cimaron' Caniga seeks to jumpstart his MMA career on the right footing when he tackles Benedict 'Little' Torbiso in the kids division.

The rest of the card features Erving 'Immortal' Mosico of My Gym Dumaguete versus Jhonjier 'Excalibor' Torbiso of Durex KBC; John 'Little' Dulap of Project X versus Ronilee 'Black Bull' Castro of Tatus MMA; Earl 'Texas' Surigao of Yaw-Yan ArDigma versus Bryan 'Heat' Otida of Arcomjukai KBC; David 'Venum' Po of SOMA KBC versus Roel 'Tigbas' Arcipe of Warriors MMA; Junrey 'Botong' Soquite of Durex KBC versus Rodel 'Pitbull' Valisado of Unified MMA; and Bryan 'Spiker' Nunez of Yaw-Yan Mustang versus Rodil 'Ghost' Lamoste of Arcomjukai KBC.

Tickets are priced at P300 for the VIP section, P200 for ringside, P150 for lowerbox, and P100 for upperbox. (FREEMAN)
