Mier raring to defend ASEAN Cup title
CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano cyclist John Rene Mier aims to defend his men’s open division title in the final leg of the 2014 Asean Mountainbike Cup in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow in Malaysia.
Mier who is already in Malaysia, won the first leg title last June 14 in Danao City.
But Mier said that his mission to retain his title wouldn't be easy as the race course is very difficult and slippery.
"For me, the race course is tougher than in Danao. I hope to do well here. I hope I get lucky again and win," said Mier who is now with the national mountainbike squad after serving the national track team for some time.
Mier pledges to do his best for his fellow Cebuanos as well as for his sponsors who have been supporting his bid in mountainbiking including RDAK through brothers Regan and Rere King, Rudy Project, Samar's May Tan and Noy Jopson.
Mier also expressed his desire to race both track and mountainbike and even in road cycling event, whenever the national team needs him.
Mier is also aiming a slot in the Philippine Navy after bolting out of Standard Chartered team. (FREEMAN)
